Rental Fees

Monday – Thursday

$50 per hour

Minimum of 2 hours, with a maximum rental fee of $200 per day and a $400 damage deposit. An additional $80 cleaning fee applies.

Friday – Sunday

$400 per day

A $400 damage deposit is required. An additional $80 cleaning fee applies.

Halloween and New Year’s

$750 per day

A $750 damage deposit is required. An additional $150 cleaning fee applies.

Other Fees

Cleaning

The standard cleaning fee is $80, or $115 for a multiple-day rental. Halloween and New Year’s rentals have a $150 cleaning fee. Standard single-day cleaning includes 3 hours of cleaning by one cleaner; the multiple-day cleaning fee includes 4 hours by one cleaner.

If additional cleaning is required, it will be billed at a rate of $45 per hour, per cleaner. Tables and chairs must be wiped down and returned to their racks or placed on their appropriate trolleys. If tables and chairs are left out or not cleaned properly, an additional $50 will be charged. Smoking is not permitted inside the hall.

BBQ

A large gas BBQ is available on the deck for an additional fee of $25 per event.

Camping Permits

Camping is allowed on a case-by-case basis and depends on weather and field conditions. Camping permits are required by the county at a rate of $10 per unit, per event. Permits must be displayed at all times. Please inquire for more information.

PA System

A PA system is available for an additional fee of $20 per event. Please ask the hall manager about it when booking.

Additional Information

  • If the renter will be serving or providing alcohol, they must purchase a liquor licence and $2 million in PAL insurance. We have an insurer who works with community halls. Please inquire for more information.
  • All rentals are made known to the RCMP.
  • Wye Hall is in a residential neighbourhood. All renters must be respectful of the neighbourhood in every regard.

How do I book Wye Hall?

Check the availability calendar, then send a booking enquiry or email the hall manager at wyecommunityhall@gmail.com. Submitting an enquiry does not reserve your date. Your booking must be confirmed by the hall.

How much does it cost to rent Wye Hall?

Do I need insurance if I am serving alcohol?

Yes. If you are serving alcohol, you need a liquor licence and insurance. Both must be present at the hall, and the liquor licence must be displayed. Please contact the hall manager for our insurance contact and the best available insurance price.

What is the hall capacity?

How many tables and chairs are available?

Wye Hall has 160 chairs and 20 six-foot tables.

How do I access the hall for my rental?

You will receive an email at least one hour before your rental begins. It will include a code to open the door, hall details and all the instructions you will need. You will be responsible for locking the hall after your event.

What payment methods are accepted?

Payments can be sent by Interac e-Transfer to wyecommunityhall@gmail.com. No password is required.

When are payments due?

Once the contract is signed, the damage deposit is due immediately and is required to secure your date. Rental, camping and cleaning fees are due two weeks before your rental.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations are refunded only when made more than 14 days before the rental date. Cancellations made within 14 days of the rental are subject to a $200 penalty.

Can I return later to clean up or collect my belongings?

No. All belongings must be removed and the checklist must be completed by the end time stated in your contract. Wye Hall is a busy venue, and another renter may be arriving after your event. Please follow the times stated in your contract.

What cleaning is required after my event?
  • Remove all of your belongings from the hall.
  • Empty all garbage bins into the dumpster outside.
  • Wipe down and put away all tables and chairs.
  • The cleaning crew will complete the remaining cleaning.
  • Confetti, glitter, rice and silly string are not permitted in the hall.
When will my damage deposit be returned?

Your damage deposit will be returned approximately 14 days after your event unless damage occurred or additional cleaning was required.

Is Wi-Fi available?

Yes. Wi-Fi is provided through Strathcona County, similar to the service available at local recreation centres. You will need to log in to access it.

Does the hall have a sound system?

Wye Hall currently has a PA system. Please ask the hall manager about it when booking. An additional $20 fee applies.

Does the hall have coffee makers and a kettle?

There are three coffee makers with reusable plastic filters and one kettle. Coffee, tea and cups are not provided.

Is there an ice machine?

No, but there is a small freezer if you would like to bring your own ice.

How does camping work?

Camping is permitted in the field east of the hall and in the parking lot. The cost is $10 per unit, and camping must be added to the rental contract.

A camping permit must be completed and submitted to Strathcona County. Camping in the field is not permitted when conditions are very wet. Camping is never permitted in the fields west or north of the hall.

Are discounts available for seniors?

There is currently no seniors’ discount. Wye Hall is a nonprofit organization.

Is there a podium?

There is no podium. A small stage approximately six inches high is located at the end of the hall.

Can I decorate the hall?

Yes. Cork strips are provided on the walls for pinning up decorations. All decorations must be removed at the end of your event. Confetti, glitter, rice and silly string are not permitted in the hall.
